JJoin the Immortality Institute for a very special Sunday Night Chat February 10th with neuroscientist and life extension supporter Todd Huffman.

Mr. Huffman became famous for implanting a magent in his finger to create a sixth sense. Find out his current take on transhumanism, cryonics and life extension.

This Sunday Night Chat will be extra special because it will be streamed live on Ustream. The Immortality Institute stream can be found here. There won't be anything broadcasting most of the time (maybe my cats while I am testing it out). We are just going to start out streaming the Sunday Night Chat. I will record the stream so that it can be listened to at any later date on Ustream. I will also record an mp3 for podcast and make it available as a download from Itunes or other services. Besides the special guest, there will also be an Imminst update and some of the latest news from the world of anti-aging science. Even though this first stream will be audio only (like a radio program), there will still be an opportunity for interaction. Each Ustream broadcast has a chatbox. I will be monitoring the chatbox for questions and comments while I am interviewing the guest.

If this goes well then perhaps the Institute can fill the Ustream channel with more content during more times of the week and include video as well as audio. See you there on Sunday night! It will be good.

I've met him a few times when he worked at Alcor and at subsequent conferences, he is a very cool guy. I'd love to ask him about the research he did during his two years at Alcor, and what he thinks of the director system and the debate going on about that right now. I hope to hear about any new ways of body modification he may have heard of that enhance our senses. He has been an Extropian for a long time, I also wonder what his current views are on that.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend the actual ImmInst interview, if I don't I hop some can ask my questions .

What about coating the magnet in teflon as opposed to silicone? I'd implant a magnet myself if it weren't for the MRI issue, I'll be around many many MRIs.

Personally, I think it's better with the video even if nothing important is showing. It seems more dynamic that way, than if you're just talking.

As far a text chatting during the broadcast. There is a chatbox at the Imminst Ustream channel.

The interview is now over, but you can go to the ustream link and view "past clips". Tonight's chat went well and is recorded. Just click on the Huffman interview and it will play. Unfortunately, Mr. Huffman was only able to use a cell phone for the chat so his audio was not as clear, but it was still understandable. I will try to get future guests on a landline or on Skype.

I would like to record the broadcast as an mp3 so that it can be downloaded as a podcast. Just have to get my recording software working.

Hmm it gave me this weird number again 6667. I think it means that I need to tell my firewall to let something through that has to do with this number. Unfortunately I have no control over my firewall. So like imminst chat, probably doesn't work for me when I'm in my usual spot :-( It's just the chat that says this, the video worked fine & live.

Well, lets just say the Sunday Evening Update has come a long way since this first show. Todd Huffman was a real good sport and a fun interview. The audio was not so great. Notice the studio in its primitive state. Things have gotten much better and I am working to improve the program every week with more graphics, higher quality video and audio, and great guests.

I am going to update the old Sunday Evening Update shows with a direct link to each show. Eventually, we will be developing a media page here at Imminst and upload the audio to a podcasting service.
