and other leading experts, this workshop aims to provide the public
with an informed perspective regarding geoethical nanotechnology
and how guidelines could be made to provide a “safe harbor” within
which curative nanotechnology could be developed.

The workshop will be broadcast live over the internet. On-line
participants will have the opportnity to ask questions in real-time.
ImmInst members are encouraged to take part in this ground-breaking
event.

FOR FIRST WORKSHOP ON
GEOETHICAL NANOTECHNOLOGY

July 6, 2005, Melbourne Beach, FL -- The Terasem Movement, Inc., a non-profit foundation focused on geoethical nanotechnology, announced today that an interactive webcast featuring Ray Kurzweil, Max More, Frank Tipler, Doug Mulhall and other luminaries at its Geoethical Nanotechnology meeting will be openly accessible at www.terasemfoundation.org/webcast from 8AM-6PM EST on Wednesday, July 20th.

Geoethical nanotechnology is the development and implementation under a global regulatory framework of machines capable of assembling molecules into a wide variety of objects, in a broad range of sizes, and in potentially vast quantities. An example of geoethical nanotechnology would be billions of tiny devices that reclaim hurricane or tsunami-ravaged landscapes.

Viewers of the interactive webcast are invited to email or IM (instant-message) questions directed to the presenters throughout the meeting. Each hour, some of these will be selected for the featured speakers to answer. Emailed questions should be addressed to terasem@terasemfoundation.org. AOL IM questions should be addressed to "terasem."

Other Workshop presenters available for emailed or IM questions on July 20th include Nobel Laureate Barry Blumberg (speaking on the definitional boundary of life), Natasha Vita-More, Wrye Sententia, Prof. Len Doyal, Mike Treder, Walt Anderson and Martine Rothblatt. The webcast will feature simultaneous transmission of audio, video and PowerPoint presentations.

I had a chance to listen and watch this event in streaming video... even had a question to Max More answered in real time via the online chat. Quite interesting to have a questioned like this answered from more than 800 miles away.
