As Dr. Olshansky originally mentioned, here is the link to the webcast videos for the Forum 2006 at Oxford. You can play any of the videos of speakers that they have already had and other videos will be added as the other speakers give their talks as well, but the most interesting (to me) was day before yesterday's (Wednesday) morning panel (8:45) that included Aubrey de Grey and Jay Olshansky. I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but from what I have seen it looks interesting. I don't know how long they will host it up there (it streams when you watch it), but I thought it might be interesting to a few folks.

Edit: Here it is embedded from Google Videos:

I watched the whole 2hrs of Kirkwood, Miller, Olshansky, de Grey etc. panel. Kirkwood's comment (in the end discussions) on damage prevention being inherently much easier than damage repair in complex biological systems was certainly an interesting one and (unfortunately) intuitively appealing. I wish Aubrey would have been given a chance to comment on that.

I would assume you need a (fairly) high speed connection to view them smoothly.

Edit: Added the Google video link. That one should let you watch it alright.

James Hughes from World Transhumanist Association also gave a webcasted speech on Human Nature:

(slides for the speech)

(slides for another speech by Hughes)

These webcasts are awesome, this one conference kicks ass over the whole ImmInst multimedia archive. We should really archive these webcasts.

Again, I point this out: http://humanupgrades...s/team/ane4.htm

It looks all good like Nip/Tuck at first, but then upon further inspection... [wis]

the other day i came across a news article saying a korean scientist has synthesized an age-reversing molecule that'll combat telomeres. the report goes on to say he has won praises in the uk for such an unparralled discovery. if this were true, then the age of immortality has begun.

what do you people say? by the way i'm mel, from the philippines. it's sad to not that our government back here is still mired in political controversy and has extremely very little concerns about health and longevity issues. i wish, however, that similar immortality conferences such as those in the states and in britain would be held in my country. being a freelance writer, im beginning to spread the word around in my own little way.

i hope this gets across to the right people so they'll include the philippines in their noble dialogue.

live on.

Thanks for the interest, phantom, but this is not the thread for it. Please consider making a post in the Introduce Yourself forum.
