Hi Everyone!

I am a resveratroller (meanz i love the effects from taking it) and I would like to know what else can i combine it with? At breakfast I take MegaMen, 500mg VitaminC (twice daily), alternate 20mg of resveratrol one day with 20mg of CoQ10 the next, also I would like to bring Alpha GPC to the mix! I am wondering if mixing GPC with Resveratrol is a good idea? Has anyone tried it? Your Comments will be appreciated....Thankyou! By the way I am a male of 37 years, in good health and exercise 5 dayz a week. I enjoy taking these supplements.

20 mg isn't very much... but according to one study, quercetin helps with the absorption (although the big resveratrol thread did leave me somewhat confused on this issue).

I think it works best without quercetin at a much higher dose 250 mgs min. Most people take other supps so determining whats helping what may be difficult. I have been combining RLA/RDHLA and Tocotrienols with my once daily Res. seems to help. JMO

Well i take the AOR's Acta-Resveratrol and it has Quercetin in it. I trust that company for its good products. If they have put Quercetin there then they must have a research to back it up...and i cant say that for a lot of good companies out there ;) . Anyways ...the thing is if i take more than 20mg of Rez it gives me tightness in the neck...dont know why but small doses (5 or 10mg) are just fine with no side-effects at all. Have you tried Acai Berry extract...it has an opposit effect on me...i feel more relaxed and mobile and all tightness goes away ...plus it seems it enhances the sex drive as well. I have only found the docter's best acai and Now's Acai to be of great quality as it is freez dried. AOR hasnt brought it to the market. Acai gives a draining effect the next day if i consume it over 250mg...can anybody tell me why?

I think that sometimes these effects may be attributable to something else, placebo or even transient sides that dissipate over a period of time, especially if you are using other supps. Its important to listen to your body feedback, sometimes an allergic response can be induced by some supplements. I have no experience with Acai, but it sounds like you may be taking too much, try taking less and see how you feel. JMO

Hi, I take 3 grams (3000 mg) of 98% RES every day.
Maybe you could combine your 20 mg of RES/alternate/day with more Res?

Neck tension sounds like a cholinergic effect, and I can't think of a reason resveratrol would give you this reaction. Honestly, your dose is at least an order of magnitude lower than the threshold of clinical effect documented on these forums. Any effects you've noted from this product are probably attributable to quercetin. Have you tried a pure resv product?

Also, I would stay away from alpha-GPC, as it has quite pronounced cholinergic effects e.g. muscle tension.

lesterlong,

I'm curious what type of testing you have done to attribute the muscle tension to higher resveratrol doses?

Thanks,

David

Currently combing my pure, 250 mg. Resveratrol dose with: 1600 mgs of SerenAid, 600 mgs A-GPC, 75 mgs, each of RLA, RDHLA, approximately 350 mgs of Tocotrienols daily. Comments on this?

Astralogus. I make an effort to take it when I am not takingI am resveratrol due to some concern that it's effects will be negated by the res. I take fairly large does of res. My grey facial hair has slowly been turning grey. On the days when I add astralogus to the mix it seems that more new dark hairs are sprouting up. Since I am not counting them it is hard to tell. On a weekly level it is more apparent. I drink green tea brewed for 5 minutesto maximize the quercitin . An article in Wired about mitrochondria had a scientist who was working with the US army say the effect is more pronounced when taken with b vitamins. So that is what I do .

Thanks for your input. How do you alternate between Resveratrol and the Astralagus? How much of each are you taking?

The amount of tocotrienols is too high for my taste; the inverted U-shaped curve for vitamin E may peak at 200 mg/day, maximum. At this point, anti-oxidants are not thought to contribute significantly to life extension in high doses, and may be counterproductive.

Thanks for your comments, Maxwatt, they are appreciated. The original dose for the Carotech Tocomin product was 630 mgs per scoop, I have cut that in half by using a smaller scoop, its been a couiple weeks now and no appreciable sides to speak of, but I do take breaks in dosing.

St. John's Wort increases the number of benzodiazapam receptors, but is not an SSRI. Which kinds (there are at least 20) I do not know. How that interacts with resveratrol is an open question; resveratrol does seem to have some anti-depressive qualities according to anecdotal reports.
