Why F. it? Has time run out? I heard of something like this today. I think there is 2 weeks left. Maybe they are two different 2.5 million dollar prize things.

Heres the bulletin I got today, Does anybody know what its UFARD instead of MFURI? I mean, Im thinking MFURI takes the cake over ?"UFARD"?

Bulletin:

Amex Members Project: "Undergrads Fighting Age Related Disease"

Methuselah Foundation needs your help now. We are supporting a project called "Undergrads Fighting Age Related Disease" which has been submitted as part of the American Express Members Project initiative.

We ask that you go to http://www.
membersproject. com/ and nominate this project; the winners will share US $2.5 million in funding. You don't need to be an Amex card holder. It's free, and should take less than 5 minutes to finish.

We need to raise more than 2000 votes in the next 2 weeks - by Sept 1, 2008 - so please support this effort and vote now. This is open to US residents only.

Instructions:

1.

Go here: http://www.
membersproject.
com/

2.a.

If you are not an American Express Card Member:
- Click on "Guest Members Log In" in the upper right corner of the page. Then click on "Guest Members Sign Up Here" at the bottom of the next page.

-- or --
2.b.

If you are an American Express Card Member:
- Click on "Cardmembers Log In" on the right side of the page. If you don't already have a login account, click on "Create a Log In" on the next page.

3. Complete the registration form; you will then be issued your login ID.

4.

Once you are logged into the Members Project, you can either
- a) enter "Undergrads Fighting Age Related Disease" in Search, or
- b) click on "Health" then "Diseases and Disorders" at the bottom right of the page, and scroll down to "Undergrads Fighting Age Related Disease".

5. Click on the project name, and then click on the "Nominate this Project" button. Finally, click on "Post Your Comments" at the bottom of the screen, since discussion board activity counts favorably as a factor towards nomination of the top 25 projects.

Thank you for your support,
Methuselah Foundation

This is urgent, if you read this then please vote on this today. It took me less than 5 minutes to do it. It needs 2000 votes in two weeks. Thats about 125 a day for two weeks. If ten people can get 12 people a day to sign up then we can probably harness a ton of money for MFURI. Theres not a much simpler way to help life extension in a big way. Start by signing yourself up today, and then repost this in other forums and places you go to on the net.

If you want to join this team of at least ten then let me know.

If you do go there and vote then let us know here.

I voted.

Note: there's also a link at the bottom of the project description to "digg" it (someone has already added it to digg, 4 votes so far)

Note 2: the "nominate" button didn't work in firefox... might have been add block ...

I tried to digg it but they always f with you on passwords so I can never remember them. They make you add a number, enter the first three letters of the captcha into the password and capitalize the letter in your password that is the day you created it divided by 2. And then when you cant remember it and have them send you a reminder in email, the reminder doesnt get there. Next they'll ask you to send in a blood sample to verify your password and then send them a picture of you running backwards and jumping through a flaming hoop while juggling in order to get in.

LOL:)

Thanks BP for a wonderful example of "The Perfect Excuse".

...while juggling in order to get in.

This is very difficult for many, it seems.

Guess all us life-extenders will just have to wait on the Singularity, AI, or the Rapture to bail us out :)

How do I know if my nomination was accepted I click "nominate this project", but nothing happens.
Why does the project have only 179 votes in total? It is $2.5M for 25 projects, meaning 100k for each?

EDIT: yeah, ok, I see they don't like Opera..

What is Opera?

The votes are going up, if you havent voted/nominated the project yet then hurry up and do so. Its a lot of money for the cause to save your life. Spread the word. Copy this link to other places you go on the web. Post bulletins around the web, blog about it etc.. We can get the votes at this rate if we keep it up. That means you have to put your two cents in. Please do, the change is adding up.

This was the first one to become active. There was one other one that was going at that time but nobody saw it to get discussion going in it.

This one is still relavent though.

No big deal though.. we can this opportunity to start fresh and call the first phase over and start a single thread in the members of the Methuselah Foundation form that we can use to discuss the second.

It is not enough. Only for laboratory creation it is necessary not less than 7 million dollars.

The MFURI proposal got over 2000 votes and made it into the top 25, but then the AMEX scientific review board rejected the proposal in favor of something else. The top 25 are going to be narrowed down to 5 finalists that will receive funding.
