I have sleeping problems and tried Magnesium supplements in the past but they caused diarrhea. Anyone tried Jigsaw Magnesium w/SRT (sustained release)? They say it's the only brand of magnesium that won't cause diarrhea. Here's their web site:

what form/dose were you using?

your body should acclimate if you start low and move up... i can take nearly 1g at a time with no problems now. i personally use magnesium glycinate and have never had an laxative effect, i believe it was created with avoiding that in mind.

I considered trying it once, but besides being rather expensive, I decided against it due to the folate. I already get more than enough from my multi + diet, so adding an extra 50% of the RDA daily for no reason seemed like a bad idea to me.

I used to use Maginex. Also expensive and supposed to be the only form that didn't cause diarrhea. It worked for me in the beginning but I changed over to cheaper forms (magnesium citrate) some time ago.

Jigsaw says on its web site that:

"Most magnesium supplements dump magnesium into the body and, because it can't be properly absorbed, cause a laxative effect or bad diarrhea. The patented Sustained Release Technology of Jigsaw Magnesium steadily releases active components to ensure availability of magnesium throughout the day."

They also have a comparison chart between their product and other time released magnesium supplements. Has anyone tried the other two brands Slow-Mag and Mag-Tab? Here's the chart:

Jigsaw claim that their brand doesn't cause diarrhea either and each tablet has 125 mg of magnesium. They recommend 4 tablets a day, that's 500 mg. Here's the label:

That's right. I read that in the book "The Magnesium Factor". So Maginex worked for you in the begininng then later started giving you diarrhea?
