Abram Hoffer faxed this to me for the benefit of the lady in
one of our associated offices, who had adenocarcinoma of
the lung. She passed away at the end of 1996.

Note that :

1. Selenium should be taken as sodium selenite, which is the
form showing cytotoxic activity in most of the studies. I made the
mistake of getting selenomethionine for her, and she took only a
paltry 200 mcg a day moreover.

2. Vitamin E should be taken as the "dry" succinate form showing
direct anticancer activity in most studies. The oily acetate softgels
have relatively little anticancer action.

3. Hoffer said that plain niacin was better than niacinamide and was
actually quite safe even at the above high dosage. However, obviously
due to limitation of the flush, he said it was alright to use inositol
hexaniacinate may be used instead.

The recent flawed SELECT trial on prostate cancer, which was
terminated prematurely for lack of evidence, used selenomethionine
and tocopherol acetate.

A therapeutic dosage of selenite for cancer would be 1,000 mcg.

In a terminal case, raise it to at least 1,500 mcg.

Sodium selenite should preferably not be taken at the same time
as vitamin C, which converts it to elemental selenium.

Sodium selenate may be used instead but apparently absorption
of this form is poorer.

Wow, what an open-minded doctor. I wish this would be the case more often. -- StephenB
