Hi Chung

As per previous chats, I'm too far to send a rig to but I would happily buy some used GPUs from you if you can work out a price to make it worthwhile sending them to the uk.

PM me if you're interested.

A few 8800GT's 256MB could be made available.

The 8800GT 256MB versions were sought because they are very efficient for folding and consume lower power than most.

- Three 8800GT's (XFX Alpha Dog) were purchased from eBay as refurbished with one year factory warranty.

- One Gigabyte 8800GT was purchased locally. It was a return from GigaByte factory repair.

The above listed graphics cards were purchased for personal use and have folded with them all. They all work fine in a typical computer.

I mostly use home-built barebone Shuttle XPCs for folding, similar to these.

Currently these cards do not work (are not recognizable) in my Shuttle XPCs.

The XFX 8800GT's and the GigaByte 8800GT will not POST in the Shuttles. The Shuttles refuses to recognize their presence.

The reason I thought they would all work is because I earlier purchased a LeadTek WinFast 8800GT 256MB (which is very similar) and it works fine in the Shuttles.

Each of these boards have been tested (Folding) for about two weeks or more, error free, in a regular computer. Actually I flashed the BIOS, in all, to lower voltage of 0.95 V instead of stock (1.10 or 1.15 volts) for cool, quiet running, and power savings. They run fine at stock frequencies, or above, with 0.95 Volts (all XFX's run at GPU=600, Shaders=1500, Memory=900).

I flashed one of the XFX cards with a BIOS from the LeadTek, hoping that would allow it to be recognized in the Shuttles, but no go. I have retested it, actually it is folding now in a regular computer.

The GigaByte 8800GT is a factory overclocked version, it has a unique GigaByte feature, selectable voltage with software "Gamer HUD" and stock GPU speed is 700 MHz. It also has the golden Zalman cooler.

These cards are no longer manufactured, so they are somewhat difficult to find.

It would be good to recover my investment in these graphics cards.

- The Gigabyte 8800GT, cost $87 (locally, included shipping across town).

- The XFX versions cost in the mid-$70 dollar range (79.99 minus an 8% rebate).

Please feel free to ask technical questions here in this thread, and:

Please PM any inquiries about about purchasing details.

Good thinking BP, it will also indirectly help users to find out about folding who use the store.

Couple items for sale or trade!...

Good list Chungenhung.

For the record, a solution was devised for the 8800GT and Shuttle XPC combination, mentioned earlier in this thread.

One Shuttle XPC with a 8800GT 256MB graphics card (in addition to a regular PC with a 8800GT) has been activated.

Performed a little study.

Probably bring the other 8800GT's online sooner or later.
