Message from Aubrey:

"Hi everyone,

My friend Steve Brown, a major SENS supporter who used to run Health Hero Network, is donating $10,000 to five charities on the basis of the number of comments they get at the site. Comment on SENS Foundation here:

According to Share To Win's rules, there will be five winners:
  • $5,000 for the Grand Prize
  • $2,000 for the Runner Up
  • Three Honorable Mentions of $1,000 each
So, the SENSF can't win all of the $10k pot as the title of this thread states.

I just noticed a comment that states that most posters have failed to meet the requirements.

You have to mention:

Health related
SENS Foundation
http://www.sens.org/

In your post.

For those who already commented, you can edit your comment like I did.

That comment is wrong. According to the official rules, "The note that gets the most comments .... wins!" There's no requirement that states what content the comments should contain. The only requirement is for the note itself to contain the following info:

Compose a 3banana Note that answers the question: "Why should people pay attention to our cause?" Be sure to include the Cause's legal name and website. Your 3banana Note will be assigned a unique private web address.

So, it seems people are confusing the note with the comments. Read the rules people!

Imminst could promote this with a banner, forum discussion, mass email, what-not.

From Aubrey:

Subject: We've been overtaken!

Hi everyone,

After several days in the lead for the #sharetowin challenge, we've been overtaken by Los Angeles Habilitation House. They have a less radical agenda than ours, so it's no surprise that they're getting support, but I'd still prefer us to win $5000! Therefore, if you haven't yet commented, please do it now:

- go to http://www.facebook....l/;bit.ly/sensf
- click the "comment" link
- comment!

It's a still a horse race, but SENSF has already pulled ahead again (400 vs. 359 replies).

That sure seems like an easy way to make a buck for the SENSF... but unfortunately we're only second now (or so it seems).

If it becomes necessary, Imminst will roll out the big guns and promote this like they did with the Laser Research Grant after SENS4 (according to a PM from Mind). If that happens, Imminst should be able to generate several thousand votes.

Drop me a PM if you eventually need help promoting it. (or just post it in this thread)

Steve Brown, a major SENS supporter who used to run Health Hero Network, is donating $10,000 to five charities (maximum $5,000 per charity) on the basis of the number of comments they get at the 3banana site before the end of September.

I forgot to mention that we'll have to wait until Life Aid is over as well (i.e., after the 12th of September) for Imminst to promote this (according to the same PM from Mind). I'm not sure why either SENS4 or Life Aid would interfer with promoting this though.

In any case, anyone that doesn't want to wait can post links to the contest on life extensionist and transhumanist Facebook groups and causes. To avoid getting a spam warning from Facebook like I did while promoting the Laser Research Grant, make sure you wait for a period of time—perhaps half an hour—before posting identical links and text.

Ive thought of matching offers before from seeing them around, then your sens matching offer inspired me toward its ability to work more, and then I tried it for the laser ablation and it worked pretty well. Now looking at this, if I had more time right now then I might try something like a 50 for 5. Maybe try to get 50 people to all sign up to get 5 people apeice to vote and comment at 3 bannanas. Do it under the pretense that nobody gets 5 unless 50 people sign up. I would then go and pm members here individually about it.

Probably best to pour it all into the sens entry at this time.

We could probably use somebody to stay on top of things like this for imminst in the future though, and start them up and let us all know about them. However, at least at this point, for the next year probably, it might be best to try to do one when they arent, so we can try to drive all our efforts into one, then the other alternately. Could be wrong though, maybe many could be done at once.

I suppose you could try a "50 for 5" scheme or something similar, but I'd consider that only as a last resort. Imminst should be able to generate a few thousands or at the very least hundreds of votes simply by encouraging its members to post a comment.

In addition to posting links on Facebook groups and causes, people can post on Facebook and Twitter to get their friends to post a comment at 3banana.

I agree. Since SENSF has already garnered a large number of comments and is in second place, I think we should support their effort.

However, we should really start thinking more about getting grants for Imminst. I think if we had a dedicated research fund, then it would be easier to point to a reason to support Imminst in cases like this. Or perhaps a charity fund such as the one that supported William O'Rights.

This is what Aubrey said: "Since my appeal less than 24 hours ago, we've made up around 1/3 of our deficit in the race to win $5,000 - our vote count has risen from 485 to 658! The leading cause has accumulated only 68 votes, less than 40% as many as us, in the meantime, and they're clearly plateauing. So we'll definitely make it if just a few hundred more of my friends submit a comment."

It's likely that the race for the top $5k prize will continue to be between LAHH and SENSF. Updates are posted by 3banana on Twitter about the rest of the competitors.

I put a couple links on the front page regarding this effort. I also plan on sending our a mass email before the deadline, as long as no one objects.

I've been getting the updates about this from Aubrey through Facebook, and as of now we are only 17 posts behind!!!

I have been actually getting everyone I know to comment on it. Anyone I see online in MSN, Gmail chat, Facebook etc. I just send them the link and say "Hey, can you sign in and leave a comment for me? It will win $5000 for SENS. Thanks" Very easy to do, and very productive. I hope everyone does a bit of this, and if we can all get 10 or more extra people each, then we have it for sure.

Similar to our drive to get donations for the Laser Ablation Research, I plan on sending out a mass email to Imminst members/users on Thursday and encourage everyone to use their social networking connections (Twitter, Twine, Facebook, Delicious, Digg, what-not) on Thursday and Friday, thus hopefully generating a new buzz/wave of commenting right before the close (Sunday night at midnight - the 27th). If you have a couple arrows left in your quiver, I suggest using them in a mass/group effort on Thursday and Friday.
