I am in the USA and am looking for a source that sells Adrafinil to the US. Anyone ever ordered from biogenesis antiaging dot com in South Africa. Was shipping fast and the product quality good?
Thanks for reading jj |

Yes. I've ordered from them three times and got my order (in Chicago) within two weeks. Huge selection of supplements and very timely shipping.

why adrafinil? it was so hepatotoxic that it was taken off the market! Pike- are you sure you are not talking about pemoline? ah! you're right, i was confusing the two. however, adrafinil IS hepatotoxic. and although modafinil (its metabolite) isn't given the same attribute, it sure as hell does tinker a lot with your liver enzymes. |

Pike- Do you happen to know of any studies that support the claim that adrafinil is especially hepatotoxic? There seems to be some misinformation circulating about and while adrafinil is metabolized by the liver, it does not appear to be any more toxic than other drugs or cognitive enhancers in this regard. I would really be curious to see any studies that may address this. This post has been edited by synapse: Nov 13 2009, 07:41 PM |

The thing I've found with both modafinil and adrafinil is that they're more effective when you don't take them every day, and as such, that will reduce the danger to your liver. I was prescribed provigil for a long time by my psychiatrist after I went through rehab because detox left me exhausted and constantly sleeping. I guess it's my brain reseting from the opiate abuse. Anyway, after three months or so it started to fade in effectiveness. He told me that it's not necessarily "tolerance" because more doesn't work more, but it's a case of your brain acclimating to the drug. He suggested either not taking it every day or taking a few weeks off every couple months. This also reduces the danger of hepatoxicity. I make sure to take vitamin and mineral supplements that promote liver health, and i don't drink alcohol ever. I much prefer modafinil to adrafinil, but thanks to good ol' health insurance, I can't afford the modafinil.
Of course, I'm not a doctor or a scientist, or even particularly smart, I just know what i've been told and what's worked for me. By the way, I had my liver tested three weeks ago and it came back normal |

I would really be curious to see any studies that may address this. there are barely any studies on adrafinil whatsoever. theres one in mice and one in dogs. that's it (or at least all i can find). in mice however, it does have the ability to potentiate yohimbe toxicity. aside from that, taking adrafinil is essentially asking your liver to dehydroxylize an entire 300mg compound into what is supposed to be equated to 100mg of a compound that is additionally hepatically metabolized, has either equal or lower bioavailability than its parent compound, and is known to induce quite a few liver enzymes (amongst its other tinkering effects on the cytochrome p-450 liver enzymes) as well as its induction of p-glycoprotein which, among other things, will also spell out altered drug transportation. |
