well maybe...

over time modafinil induces the 3a4 enzyme more and more. 3a4 is responsible for the breakdown of most drugs including modafinil. so the more often you take modafinil the quicker it leaves your system. milk thistle is a 3a4 inhibitor which means it will block the breakdown of modafinil and hopefuly nullify the effects modafinil inducing 3a4. well thats the hope atleast what do you guys think?

i don't know enough to support your mechanism
but from my experiences (with adrafinil + milk thistle) the effects seemed to be noticeably pronounced when taken with milk thistle.
in respect to "less tolerance", i can't say as i use adrafinil sparingly (on an as-needed basis).
i originally started taking milk thistle because of the "liver taxing" side effect issue with adrafinil..although modafinil (according to past threads on modafinil)) is designed to largely eliminate that problem.

Sounds promising. Do you have references for any of those assertions?

sorry i should have reworded my post...theres no clear ground on the degree of liver toxicity between adrafinil and modafinil.
but below are 2 links to previous threads that compare adrafinil and modafinil: (they mention the liver toxicity in both threads..but again none of the assertions are tagged with research data, etc.)

this site mentions that adrafinil raises liver enzyme levels: http://www.modafinil-adrafinil.com/
potentially more useful is the list of references they have at the bottom of the page.

hope this helps..

Thanks for the clarification and more info. I probably should have reworded my post to make it clear that I was asking polybi for references concerning the proposed mechanism ^_^
