NEWS
Earlier this year, we committed to funding two grass roots science projects in 2010. During the Month of August ImmInst Members rallied to fund a research project on mitochondrial uncoupling -- the project quickly got funded and has now commended. You can follow its progress in the forums. Now the second project needs your help: the Microglia Stem Cell Research project, is extremely ambitious, examining a potential cure for Alzheimer's and other age-related neurodegenerative diseases using stem cell therapy. http://www.imminst.org/Research2010B A new multivitamin sourced from our community! Powerful medical interventions to extend lifespan are in
development but could be years or decades away from widespread
implementation. During the intervening time, the best way to ward off the
ravages of disease and aging is to take care of yourself. So, today, we are pleased to present: VIMMORTAL http://www.imminst.org/vimmortal A new constitution - and a new name? Members are currently voting on a proposal to change and develop the Institute's Constitution. This is the culmination a many months of 'behind the scenes' drafting's and discussions by the Board. Among the proposals are provisions for management and finances, roles and responsibilities of leadership and a second name to 'brand' the site: 'LongeCity'. If you are a Member make sure you cast your vote NOW on these important changes - if you are not a Member, but care about the future of our organisation, now may be a good time to join! The first full 'ImmInst' Conference in Europe in Brussels, Belgium was a true highlight. Speakers included internationally renowned experts including Michael Rose, Aubrey de Grey, Stephen Spindler, Leonid Gavrilov, Steven Coles, Paul McGlothin, and Stephen Spindler, but some of the most interesting discussions occurred between the Members and guests who attended the conference. Check out the conference forum where soon we hope to share some pictures, recordings, presentation slides and other material. In support of the 'new organ prize' Chances are someone you know has suffered, or maybe died, because of organ failure. The Methuselah Foundation has issued a challenge to scientists to duplicate and successfully transplant a fully functioning new organ made from a patient's own cells by 2020. The newly constituted NewOrgan Prize will be awarded to the first scientist to make regenerative organs a reality. To help kick-start this important fundraising effort Imminst has already made a financial contribution -- maybe you would like to consider likewise? http://www.mprize.org/?pn=mj_neworgan_prize The new 'Thank You' or '₮' points-based, system is still being trialled. Volunteers and valued forum contributors receive these points based on their contributions, and can redeem these points at a 'virtual store' for some small prizes or fun items. If you have other ideas or suggestions regarding new initiatives, please visit the ACTION forum to share your thoughts.
