A CEL, Coalition to Extend Life, meeting is scheduled for every Thursday at 2:00 PM CDT at the Ustream Sunday Evening Update Channel.

Everyone is invited.

Initially, it may be only text communication (chat-like). Although if Mind available, he may have some images or may enable his voice capability.

The initial objective of the meeting is to brainstorm and come up with ideas to promote the CEL effort. Topics may include:

- Raise Visibility
- Recruiting
- spreading the CEL petition
- forming local groups in your area to lobby your congressmen
- Explain CEL to the group with question and answer
- Brainstorm for CEL in general
- Future CEL improvements and developments

Any related topic is game for discussion. We may organize the topics and concentrate on areas-of-interest in later meetings.

Tom Mooney and Mind/Justin will be there to lead discussions when they can.

We will be inviting all of imminst to help with the meeting.

Anyone interested in CEL, Coalition to Extend Life can come by and ask questions or just listen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those unfamiliar with Ustream:

Mind has a regular program there called the Sunday Evening Update at 5:00 PM CST. During other times he has a fairly large assortment of video documentaries that continuously play there.

When a scheduled meeting is to occur, a text window appears in the screen, just to the right of the video display. The text window shows the current text conversations. Below the window is a place to enter your comments. Just type in your message and press "send".

You may log in with your ImmInst name. If you do not log in, Ustream provides you a guest # as an ID. This ID# is bold in the text display so you can recognize yourself from other numbers in the display. You may prefer to have a name displayed, to do this, in the upper left is a "Sign Up" button. Just provide the minimal information, and thereafter you can log in with a name than can be recognized by others.

There is a meeting for this starting in a few minutes. Tom Mooney of CEL will probably be there. Today Im going to be asking Tom if hes there, how the over all process works and what he envisions a fully functioning life extension lobby organization to be doing.

We are going to need to do more promoting of this meeting for next week. If anybody is interested in doing that, alerting people, contacting people that may have shown interest in this aspect of things before, people you know who may be into politics etc...

Today we talked about the petition. We need a million signatures. One way of getting it is through a pamphlet we are designing with the petition shrunken on one of its pages. People can sign it, stamp it and drop it in the mail. The address is on the back of the pamphlet so it is ready to go. People who spread them can pre stamp them if they want too. If you want to help or have ideas for that then let us know, there is a meeting every thursday at 2pm cst time for this.

We also discussed the wording. At the Coalition to Extend Lifes web site at coalitiontoextendlife.org Tom states that:

"The Coalition to Extend Life has been created to make immortality a reality!
Initially we will focus on the following priorities:

1. To build a national movement in support of immortality
2. To educate the American public about immortality
3. To support elected officials who will fight for legislation promoting immortality and oppose those who will not
4. To create the equivalent of a Manhattan project to cure the terminal disease of aging"

Im interested to see discussion on this list of things. To see if people think any tweaking of it is in order. This will help in wording for letters and stuff to politicians. This of course all has to be run through Tom although Im sure he welcomes the discussion. We will see if we can get him to come to the next one. He has shown interest in participating in all of them if and when he is available.

For one, I think this list was written before any real building of this movement had taken shape, but now there is a lot of stuff like mf, mprize, imminst is solidifying more, conferences etc etc.

We educate the public about immortality, maybe the second line is in support of us and could reflect that, or not, I dont know,

as for the third line, supporting elected officials, what have we done along those lines? we can communicate to new ones on what we have done in the past to show them what value we bring to them.

As for the fourth line, does the government need to create an equivalent of a Manhattan project or is that already under way? I mean, maybe the wording should be geared toward asking them to support it. They are more likely to latch on to something that is already real and moving forward with authorities in the feild right?

Maybe its all good the way it is, Im just saying. What do you all thing? Leave any comments here and please get any questions, comments, concerns, ideas and everything else ready for next thursdays meeting.

I left him some messages but I havent heard from him in a while. Im going to contact him again before next week. This week Im kind of flat on ideas for it. Its just pretty much still getting that pamphlet with petition going. Im also wondering what Toms presence might be at the conference if any. We could help him get things going for that. Like getting him there, and or getting some of cels promotional material there.

This meeting is coming up today. Please be there if you can.

Ive contacted Tom Mooney again, so he may be there today.

I want to see what directions we can take this meeting in with Toms presence, but if that doesnt happen then Im thinking that we should turn this meeting into a weekly "tri topic" meeting. We would give a tentative 20 minutes to each life extension project. There are certainly plenty of them. Then if one or the other doesnt have much in it to discuss we can put more time into others.

cel meeting is going on right now. I cant access the room right now for some reason.

Try to make a weekly thing of making these meetings if you can. We arent getting any younger.

What I want to try is to gather interested peoples email addresses and send them a copy of the cel pamphlet, have everybody print out at least 10, get them signed and sent in, and then we can discuss how that went, how people reacted, if they had other ideas for it, if you think we could tweak it in this way or that or whatever.

So since I cant access it, send me your email in pm if you want to help with this.

Coalition to Extend Lifespans has put out a newsletter that we'll be going over if any body shows up at this meeting today.

We need you there. Tom has been really busy with the political campaigning season and hasnt had time to get here. Although if we can get him in here he can get momentum going for these meetings. So stay tuned, I see things picking up.

Tom outlines some reasons why Obama is more conducive to life extension. He talks about how CEL is growing and things are moving along. Of course more action is always needed and like a lot of poeple around here thing, the time to add your weight into the equation is when the momentum is moving. So jump in. I dont see efforts like these and ours stalling but they could, and that would be a disaster. Jump in now, strike while the iron is hot.
If your going to fight the reaper your going to want your reaper slayer forged and ready for it.

Another thing I see through reading through the cel is that there seems to be a great need to communicate amongst each other now. To make sure that we all know where everybody is at, get everybody on the same page. For example Tom goes over the need to express that everybody get these treatments and not just the rich. I know Aubrey and a lot of other people around imminst and mf think thats not going to be a problem, and I agree.

There are a lot of topics and potential topics. Ill see you at the meeting.

There is a copy of the life extension lobby site, the Coalition to Extend Lifespans newsletter at this link:

http://www.imminst.o...showtopic=25438

Please do read, its important. Tom, the founder of the site indicates that Obama supports the most concepts that will help further life extension.

Also please indicate who you will vote for in Calibans poll at this link: http://www.imminst.o...showtopic=25165

The meeting is on now and goes till 3. It will pick up a lot more when we get Tom in for some or all of them. In the mean time though, your idea can make a difference. We need you in here whenever you can be. Momentum now equals more action then.

Here are some of the things you can do:

1. Become a local cel representative
-contact your local congressmen
-rally people in your area to help you
-keep in touch with Tom for updates and strategies

2. Distribute the cel petition, petitions are an easy way to make a big splash
-direct people to go sign it on the cel web site
-help distribute pamphlets with the petition in them for signing

3. Of course, donate to cel. Toms making a movie to help his end of the efforts, he distributes ending aging books to politicians and a lot of other things. He can only go so far with his money. So in other words this is a stick up. Give up your money or your life, the reaper is hot on our trail and we need the money now.

Meeting is going on now. Im a little late but theres nobody there. If anybody wants to stop by then some things to talk about today will be going over the wording for the petition and thinking about how we can get more people to sign the new petition link that dnamechanic found for cels lobby petition. Ill be posting that link all over soon. http://www.petitiono...L/petition.html We are working on a topic for it, we just want to hash out a few things to put in the topic. Probably want to arrange it like a coordinated drive. Im thinking we really need to get together and talk about this stuff because cel seems to be on just a slightly different page than us and its something that we should definently discuss.

Wouldn't it be better to avoid the word 'immortality' - at least for the time being - and substitute it with 'life extension' or something similar? Talking about 'immortality' would make the message hard to be taken seriously, and the religious fundamentalists would fall on us like a pile of bricks.

Yes, it would be, and thats exactly the kind of thing we should be discussing weekly at the least. Tom has changed that from immortality to "indefinite life extension" Im also wondering about what people think about the wording of the whole petition. Im not saying it should be changed, or that Tom would even change it via our suggestions but its worth being discussed. Look it over and let us know what you think here. Also let us know if you are interested in attending the cel meetings. We can put you on a reminder list. http://www.petitiono...L/petition.html

Meeting today, 2pm cst time 8pm gmt time ustream channel.

There are many things we can do, but one main concrete thing we can do, and it may end up being the primary thing we do, is to devise an effective strategy for gaining signatures for the cel petition. We will find about 5 people to join a permanent cel team and then once a week we will set some kind of quota, and then work to acheive it. It may involve incentives, fun or maybe even monetary, theres a lot to be discussed about it, so show up and lets get this ball rolling. The grim reaper is coming and we can pack a punch in this meeting. Who wouldnt want to help do that?

Ill send an imminst fridge magnet to anybody who wants one that shows up at this meeting today. This is a limited offer. Its a small incentive but I want to see if it works. If you want one then show up at the meeting and send me your address in pm. Eventually Ill have cel stuff for things like this too. They have a merchandise store there if your interested. They use the dragonfly because it symolizes immortality. Its pretty cool, check it out.
